Calculating How Much Your Sheppard Bracket Can Hold

Our shelves are made of carbon steel with 3/4" or 1/2" round tubes so they can hold a lot of weight, but just how much depends on how you install it. The weight a bracket can hold depends on two different factors, the first being the backplate of the bracket, and the second being the number of studs that can be hit. cc: Teresa

Backplate Height	Weight Capacity per Stud (**per rod w/ backing)
​3/4"	30 lbs
1"	45 lbs
1-1/4"	55 lbs
1-1/2"	60 lbs
2"	80 lbs
3"	100+ lbs

**If the bracket is attached to solid backing then the weight rating becomes per rod instead of per stud
